Our Story
WINS was founded out of a shared conviction among its founders who, during a thoughtful and thorough discussion, recognized a critical gap in the global conversation about Sudan. They observed that much of the discourse remains focused on the consequences of Sudan’s ongoing crises, rather than the deeper structural and historical causes that continue to drive instability and injustice. Motivated by this realization, they envisioned an institute that would not only produce rigorous and transformative research, but also influence policy by centering the voices and experiences of Sudanese thinkers and intellectuals and focusing on the root causes of conflict.
The founders believed that Sudan’s future depends on more than crisis management—it requires bold thinking, strategic planning, and long-term commitment to building a just, inclusive, and prosperous state.
WINS was thus established to contribute to the development of practical policies and frameworks aimed at securing that future, while also serving as a platform for Sudanese-led ideas, leadership, and institution-building at the national, regional, and international levels.
